Electrical Design Engineer – Contract

📍 Manchester | Hybrid Working

💷 £40–£48 per hour | Outside IR35

📅 Start: Within 6–8 weeks

Long-term contract opportunity


An established Manchester-based building services consultancy is looking to appoint an experienced Electrical Design Engineer on a long-term contract basis.

Working within an established MEP team, you will be responsible for delivering electrical building services designs across a varied portfolio of commercial, residential, education and infrastructure projects, typically valued between £5m and £80m.


The Role

✅ Electrical design across LV distribution, lighting, power, fire alarm, EV charging and PV systems

✅ Produce calculations, specifications, schedules and technical reports

✅ Develop and coordinate designs using Revit and AutoCAD

✅ Undertake load calculations and support compliance with BS 7671, Part L and relevant CIBSE guidance

✅ Coordinate with mechanical engineers, architects and other project disciplines

✅ Support tender and construction-stage design packages

✅ Attend client/design team meetings and provide technical input

✅ Undertake occasional site visits, surveys and inspections


What We’re Looking For

✅ Strong UK Building Services electrical design experience

✅ Proven experience delivering projects through relevant RIBA stages

✅ Good knowledge of BS 7671, Part L, CIBSE guidance and IET Wiring Regulations

✅ Competent producing electrical calculations and coordinated design packages

✅ Experience with Revit, AutoCAD, Dialux and Amtech advantageous

✅ Able to work independently and communicate effectively with clients and multidisciplinary teams
