About Our Client

A well-established Building Services Engineering Consultancy with a team of approximately 30 engineers delivering technically challenging projects across the UK. The business has a strong reputation within the healthcare sector, whilst also working on a broad portfolio of Ministry of Justice (MoJ) and residential/commercial developments.

Due to continued project demand, they are looking to appoint a Building Physics Engineer / Sustainability Consultant to join their growing Sustainability team, reporting into the Director of Sustainability.

The Role

This is an excellent opportunity for someone looking to develop their career within Building Physics and Sustainability, working closely with experienced engineers on a wide range of low-energy building projects. You will be responsible for delivering building performance assessments, supporting low-carbon design strategies and collaborating with both clients and internal MEP design teams throughout the design process.

Key Responsibilities

• Produce dynamic thermal modelling and building performance assessments using IES VE
• Deliver Part L and Part O compliance assessments
• Complete overheating analysis in accordance with TM52 and TM59
• Undertake operational energy modelling (TM54)
• Carry out CIBSE Loads calculations and daylight analysis
• Produce BRUKL reports for Building Control submissions
• Generate and lodge EPCs where required
• Work closely with Mechanical and Electrical design engineers to integrate sustainable and low-carbon solutions into building designs
• Liaise directly with clients, architects and wider design teams throughout project delivery
• Prepare technical reports and provide sustainability advice during the design process

Ideal Candidate

You will ideally have:

• Experience within Building Physics, Sustainability or Building Performance Engineering
• Working knowledge of IES VE
• Experience completing or assisting with Part L and/or Part O compliance assessments
• An understanding of dynamic thermal modelling and overheating assessments
• Good communication skills with the confidence to liaise with clients and multidisciplinary design teams
• A genuine interest in sustainable building design and low-carbon engineering
• A degree in Architectural Engineering, Building Services Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline (desirable)
